Data Sheet: Recombinant ProteinG Agarose

Protein G is an immunoglobulin binding protein isolated from G. Streptococci that primarily binds to mammalian IgGs through Fc regions. Native Protein G has 3 IgG binding domains as well as sites for albumin and cell-surface binding. Our recombinant protein G has been is produced without the albumin binding domain. Protein G has strong affinity for most mammalian igGs, including all human IgG subclasses (IgG1, IgG2, IgG3 and IgG4) and also rabbit, mouse, and goat IgG. Protein G shows a broader range of binding to IgG subclasses than staphylococcal protein A. Domains in the NH2-terminal half of the protein have been found to bind human serum albumin (HSA). ProteinMod Recombinant Protein G Agarose has been engineered to lack the albumin binding domain to reduce non-specific binding. Additionally, there is a 6x histidine tag at the N-terminus. This product was produced by covalently bonding recombinant protein G to 6% agarose bead. Amounts refer to a 100% bead volume.
